Duncan fitzwilliams biography

The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, founded in 1618, occupies an honoured place amongst the historic Livery Companies of the City of London and to be elected Master of this venerable and illustrious body is a notable distinction for any doctor.

It is one which has been achieved by two Fellows of the College and the first of these was Mr D C L Fitzwilliams, who became a Liveryman of the Society in 1929 and served as Master in 1949-50.

Duncan Campbell Lloyd Fitzwilliams, known to friends, colleagues and students throughout his professional life simply as “Fitz” was born in Newcastle Emlym, Cardiganshire in 1878 and received his medical education at Edinburgh University.
